How do I get to the resort?
Alpine Meadows hosts guests from across Canada and around the world. The Resort is accessible by car or motor home. Please note that we are located along a mountain pass in the BC wilderness; the road to reach us in only partially paved, and the neighbouring wildlife can be unpredictable! We recommend planning to arrive during daylight hours, as well as giving yourself ample time to drive carefully and slowly (it’s a beautiful drive, you’ll want to enjoy it!). Please visit our Getting Here page, or email us for detailed directions from your point of origin.
Please note: we do NOT recommend relying solely on GPS devices, which have proven unreliable in this area. Google Maps tends to be more accurate.
If your travel plans lead you to arrive later than 9pm, please contact us in advance to make check-in arrangements. Dinner reservations may not be available for late arrivals at Alpine Meadows.
How far is Alpine Meadows from Wells Gray Park?
We are approximately 24 km from the Wells Gray Park Information Centre. Drive time from the Resort to the Information Centre is around 40 minutes. Drive time from the Resort to Helmcken Falls is around 90 minutes.
Do you have a restaurant on-site?
The Restaurant will be open 7 days a week for Breakfast and Dinner Service. Availability may be limited at times. For any questions please contact the resort: firstname.lastname@example.org
What are the kitchens equipped with?
Not all rooms have kitchens, so be sure to choose the room that is right for you. Rooms that do feature kitchens come fully equipped with fridge, stove, dishwasher, dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots/pans, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, etc.
Do you have a grocery store at Alpine Meadows Resort?
We do not have a store at the Resort. Buy Low Foods in Clearwater is the closest grocery store. If you have booked a room with a kitchen, we suggest you buy provisions in advance of your arrival to the resort.
Do we have to worry about bears?
Occasionally we do have black bears in the Clearwater and Wells Gray Park area, and we are treated to glimpses of them passing through or eating berries, on the Resort property and along the road. Guests should be Bear Smart: bears are wild creatures! Never feed the bears, and always make sure to respect their space. We recommend bringing a bear bell for walking and hiking.
Are there mosquitoes at the resort?
We are in the wilderness, so you will likely find mosquitoes, as well as other bugs and critters, in our area. We recommend insect repellent comprised of at least 25% DEET.
What is the altitude of Alpine Meadows Resort?
We are 700 metres (2000 feet) above sea level.
Is Hallamore Lake stocked? What type of fish are in the lake?
The lake at the Resort, Hallamore Lake, has been stocked with trout. Most of our guests practice catch and release. Should you wish to fish on Hallamore, you will require a BC Fishing License, which can be purchased online at http://www.fishing.gov.bc.ca/.
How large is the lake and how deep is it?
Hallamore Lake is approximately 1 km long, 50 m wide, and 21 m deep.
Everything looks so new, how old is the resort?
The resort opened in 2002, but as we are only open May through October and enforce a rigorous maintenance program, much of our resort is like new.
What was here before the resort?
This beautiful property was a farm back in the ’40’s! In the 1980’s, it operated as a fishing and camping location.
