The Excitement To Travel Again
With travel plans changing dramatically over the past year we know the urge to get out of the house has been growing stronger by the day. During the time we’ve all spent close to home, it’s easy to imagine how excited everyone is to be able to travel again and make plans to visit new places in 2021. With many destination locations busy and bustling with people after the long break, an adventure into the mountains to a personal cabin getaway sounds extra tantalizing!
Planning a visit to Alpine Meadows allows you to experience scenic BC and enjoy the (super) natural beauty of the great outdoors while maintaining social distance protocols. With BC’s expansive beauty and quiet surroundings, you won’t want to leave and go back to the city hustle and bustle. Take a breather this summer, the great outdoors awaits your arrival!
Wells Gray Provincial Park
Many visitors come to see the incredible natural vistas of Wells Gray Provincial Park. With hiking, canoeing, camping, and fishing opportunities, the Park is a great draw for experienced backcountry hikers as well as families looking for day trips.
The Park is open year round, but some campgrounds close in the winter. Check the Wells Gray Provincial Park site for history and tourism information, and visit the BC Parks page for maps and dates of operation.
Licenses
Fishing licenses can be purchased online at the Government of BC site. For sports fishers age 16 or older, a fishing license is required. Options range from a one-day license to a one-year license, so you can pay only for the amount of time you need.
A Pleasure Craft Operator Card is necessary for operating a motorized boat. However, several areas in Wells Gray Park are designated for kayaks and canoes only, which don’t require a license. Alpine Meadows provides complimentary canoes, kayaks, and rowboats to guests. If you plan to bring your own motorized boat, ensure your operator’s card and Pleasure Craft License are up-to-date.
Obtaining your licenses ahead of time makes for a more relaxed vacation, without any last-minute scrambling to obtain the proper paperwork!
